In a world where we can make pizza out of cauliflower and cookies out of garbanzo beans, why wouldn’t we turn avocadoes into fries??
Well, this just in!
I’m sharing my go-to method for crispy BAKED avocado “fries,” which I assure you is much healthier than the deep fried alternative.
These crispy baked avocado fries are not only a super cinch to prepare, but they make for amazing finger food for sharing. If you’re like me and you crave crunchy foods, you’ll LOVE this healthy crunch quencher!
SUPER crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, I’m thinking these avocado fries are a simple, healthy, fun snack to whip up for the whole family.
They’re grain-free, paleo, keto, whole30, and so fun and easy to make.
So let’s get started!
How to Make Crispy Baked Avocado Fries:
Start with avocados that are just barely ripe, so they are still firm. Halve the avocados with a sharp knife and remove the pits.
Cut thick slices. I like halving the slices so that they are easier to dip, but you can keep the slices long if you’d like.
Remove the slices from the outer peel and place on a plate.
Mix together the flour mixture, and whisk the egg with a couple tablespoons of oil.
Dredge each slice in the egg mixture, followed by the flour mixture.
Place each slice on a parchment lined baking sheet. On your marks, get set, BAKE!
Once the avocado slices have reached your desired level of crisp, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool. They will crisp up even more as they cool!
Dip the crispy avocado in a chipotle yogurt sauce, or any dipping sauce you’d like.
If you have an air fryer, even better! Here are the instructions for Air Fryer Avocado Fries:
Air Fryer Avocado Fries:
- Preheat your Air Fryer to 400 degrees F.
- Halve the avocados with a sharp knife and remove the pits. Cut thick slices. Remove the slices from the outer peel and place on a plate.
- Mix together the flour almond flour, shredded coconut, tapioca flour, salt, and paprika and transfer the mixture to a plate.
- Whisk together the egg and oil in a bowl until well-combined. Dredge each slice in the egg mixture, followed by the flour mixture.
- Transfer the avocado slices to the preheated air fryer for and cook for 4 minutes. Flip the avocado slices over and cook until golden-brown, about another 3 minutes.
Be sure to make the dipping sauce too!
How to Store Avocado Fries:
Avocado fries are best when serves fresh out of the oven or air fryer, but you can save any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator. They won’t turn brown, but they will loose a little crisp.
To reheat avocado fries, you can place them in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, or do the same in the regular oven.

Crispy Baked Avocado Fries
Crispy Avocado Fries baked in the oven or cooked in the air fryer.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Halve the avocados with a sharp knife and remove the pits. Cut thick slices. Remove the slices from the outer peel and place on a plate.
Mix together the almond flour, shredded coconut, tapioca flour, salt, and paprika and transfer the mixture to a plate.
Whisk together the egg and oil in a bowl until well-combined. Dredge each slice in the egg mixture, followed by the flour mixture.
Place each slice on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake 12 to 18 minutes, or until avocados are golden-brown and have reached desired level of crisp.
Serve with chipotle dipping sauce, or dipping sauce of choice.
Prepare the Chipotle Dipping Sauce:
Combine all ingredients for the chipotle dipping sauce in a small bowl and stir well. Taste for flavor and add more chipotle chilis, sea salt, or lime juice to taste.
*For keto, omit the tapioca flour. It is only a small amount of tapioca flour, so it won’t influence the carb count very much, but it also isn’t essential to the recipe.
